Join us for a deep-sea dive with Dr. Kim Juniper as he talks about deep sea thermal vents, proposed mining of these areas and what effect that will have on our oceans. As we learn more about the ecology of these places on the ocean floor, new questions emerge such as — should deep-sea thermal vents and seamounts be mined for their valuable resources or protected for their unique ecosystems?
Ocean Networks Canada has recently been awarded significant new funding for their oceanographic work. Kate Moran will talk about the new marine projects and initiatives they plan to undertake as they explore and monitor the oceans around us.
